Frequently Asked Questions

Registration / Logging in
How to register on this website? / How to log in?

This website is about STK, and so you should have an online STK account. Join one of authorized online servers with your STK account, and type a certain command (listed below for each of those servers). It will provide a link to this website, which will authorize you with your STK username on this website, and you'll be able to use it for several hours. In that time, you can either change the password and use your account on this website without opening STK, or just do a few actions on the website and not bother about passwords.

Please check that the link starts with the address of this website to avoid phishing!

List of authorized servers:

  • Frankfurt servers — invoke
    /link
  • ...hopefully more to come!

I forgot my password, or someone got access to my account on this website, how do I get my website account back?

Use the same procedure as in the previous question — use your STK account to get an authentication link to this website, and then change your website's password if needed — this will remove all active sessions, so no one except you will have access.

Please note that if you lose your STK account, you wouldn't be able to recover your account on this website by yourself.

About
What is this website for?

This website will provide services related to SuperTuxKart and Frankfurt STK servers. This is a new version of website.

Don't be discouraged by small number of things here. The site is currently in development, and some (or rather, the majority of) pages are still not moved here.

Why was the old website bad? I liked it!

In the old version, every separate group of pages (record tables, soccer tournaments, events) was generated independently using C++ code, bash, and some common auxiliary files. Those files were partially doing the same job, sometimes parsing the same files and database tables, and the resulting pages were not interactive in any way. Besides, some functionality couldn't be done that way at all.

There also was a wiki part of the site, started in 2020 and mostly abandoned since 2022. It had quite a lot of articles with latest information (at that point of time) and used MediaWiki inside. However, it wasn't quite comfortable to work with for various reasons. Some MediaWiki restrictions make full sense for encyclopaedias, but not for STK; the need to add specific (and not always working correctly) plugins was not perfect; and integration of dynamic elements like per-track record tables would be either incomplete or ugly. Combined with the fact the new website was planned in any case, it was decided to abandon MediaWiki and move articles to the new website.

When will the complete new website be ready?

Shortly: I don't know. Maybe even never. I do everything in my free time. But I hope to move as many pages to new website as possible, and to add as much functionality as possible.

Who are you? Are you, or this website, related to STK development team?

My STK username is kimden. You've probably heard about me if you played STK, in one area or another.

I am not a member of development team, and this site is not related to it either (STK has own websites, such as the official one, and the site with addons and stats). However, I launched it in the hope it could be useful for the STK community in some way.
